On Duterte: "No PH President has ever gathered this much respect from world leaders"
Veteran Scout Ranger Abe Purugganan in his Facebook page shared the opinion of netizen Jose Alejandrino who said that there has yet to be a Philippine President who is as respected by international leaders as President Rodrigo Duterte.
This opinion surfaced after the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation summit was held in Da Nang, Vietnam where Duterte met with Presidents Xi Jinping of China, Vladimir Putin of Russia and Donald Trump of the United States.
Xi and Putin have previously met with Duterte and formed economic and military agreements with him, while Trump met Duterte for the first time, although he previously allegedly made a phone call to the President where he congratulated him for his war on drugs and the success against terrorists rebels in Marawi City, a battle which lasted months.
Along with the post was a photo of Trump and Duterte laughing and sharing a toast.
"But not only Trump, China's Jinping, Japan's Abe and Russia's Putin all respect Duterte. No Philippine president has been able to gain so much respect because Duterte does not have a colonial hangup and is known to be a firm leader. As I said, if you want to be respected on the world scene, you musn't be a sissy or a lapdog.," Alejandrino said.
Before Trump sat President Barack Obama, whose relationship with Duterte was less friendly, with the two exchanging several fiery remarks.
Unlike his predecessors, Duterte gained attention by his direct and blunt words towards internation leaders, including organizations such as the United Nations and the European Union, who when attempted to cease his war against drugs, was told by Duterte that the Philippines has long ceased to bea Western colony.
He added that the Philippines has a good set of cards, provided that its location is strategic militarily.
"The regional powers and our ASEAN neighbors don't want a destabilized Philippines. That is why the US, China, and Russia did not hesitate to assist Duterte by offering arms to fight terrorism. Those plotting against Duterte don't understand the dynamics of international politics. Robredo? Trillanes? The LP? Who cares about them? They have been marginalized by their own stupidity. They are legends in their own mind," he said.
Alejandrino added that the next step would be to give Duterte revolutionary powers.
"Let's finish the job," he said.
